The violence compelled her to flee with her children to a women’s refuge. Her ex-boyfriend subsequently applied to the family court for access to their children, which was granted for three days per week. Every handover was fraught with insults, intimidation, and stress for R, exacerbating her difficult situation.
R was referred to us by a social prescriber for assistance. During our initial interviews and subsequent sessions, we listened to her problems and identified several key areas where she needed help. We provided comprehensive support through the following steps:
