Our aim is to transform people’s lives and make things better.
Who we are?
STN is founded & led-by professional/qualified/experienced teachers, advisors, counsellors, and business mentors; predominately women with BAMER heritages.
STN was founded in 2011, we are a woman-led charity dedicated to defending women’s rights and implementing feminist principles to all our work to make positive social changes by increasing participation, encouraging resilience, and building trust.
Our ethos is to pursue equal rights and social justice and support hard-to-reach disadvantaged Black, Asian, Other Minority Ethnic and Refugees (BAMER) with complex needs predominantly adult and young women from Turkish, Somali, Bangladesh, Asian, Arab, and North African communities to take first steps to overcome barriers, develop a sense of belongings, and fulfill their potential.
We offer free various community services and educational training programs such as computer training, functional English as a second language (ESOL), Functional Skills, employability skills, Advice and Guidance (IAG), advocacy, work placement/volunteering opportunities.
STN is also a recognised education and training center by different awarding bodies such as City and Guilds, TQUK, Highfield, and others. We are committed to providing various bespoke and tailored training programs, career guidance, advocacy, and pastoral support services opportunities to promote positive social change, enriching lives and local communities.

Who are our beneficiaries?
Our beneficiaries are women, and their families are from BAMER backgrounds (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, and Refugee). STN was set up to serve the community and we take the responsibility to help disadvantaged people in the local communities. STN is well regarded for its honest, open, and friendly working environment. We accept all comers regardless of their circumstances and abilities. Many of our participants become true friends and return to us as peer mentors, volunteers, counselors, ambassadors, thereby reinforcing our positive work and presence and making a positive social change in the community.

Our staff
Our qualified staff/volunteers
The teachers, advisors, advocates, and other staff employed at STN are highly qualified with an array of teaching, advice, advocacy, and experience to cater to the different individual’s needs by tailoring the services, training in relation to their needs, and aspirations.
Our staff and members speak different languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Banali, Turkish, Somali, Kurdish, French, Spanish, and different African Languages.
Around 20 volunteers (occasional and regular) are involved in supporting the organisation’s activities. Staff and volunteers take responsibility for day-to-day activities.
