No tradition, culture, or family expectation justifies violence or control.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honour-Based Abuse (HBA) is a form of violence and coercive control committed to protect or defend the supposed \u2018honour\u2019 of a family or community. It most often targets women and girls but can affect anyone, including men and LGBTQ+ individuals.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abuse carried out in the name of \u2018honour\u2019 is <\/span><b>abuse. It is illegal. It often involves <\/span><b>multiple perpetrators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including parents, siblings, extended family members, or community leaders.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some communities, maintaining family \u2018honour\u2019 is seen as essential to social standing.
